Our Lives Are Merely Trees Of Possibilities

Sorry to anyone who went to the show at the Zenith Bar to find the whole event cancelled. Especially the guy I read about on the drowned in sound message boards who fell off of his bicycle and had to go home. At least you didn't miss anything. We still wanted to do the show despite the driving conditions and our immense hangovers from the night before but the promoter was worried about the turn out and one of the bands had already pulled out due to illness.

A massive thanks to everyone involved in the Spatchcock show the night before. Incredible evening. That is why we do this.

Our good friend Patrycja Gbiorczyk shot this clip of the evening.

I Dreamed I Was In D:Ream

My brother-in-law is friends with the keyboard player. True story.

This is our cover of the Sonic Youth track I Dreamed I Dream. We recorded it the same day we recorded the Misanthrope 7" vinyl and did it in one take. It was supposed to be released on a compilation but we have not heard anything about it for a while. One Unique Signal were also going to be on the comp doing a Mudhoney cover. I've not heard it yet...

I Know You're Out There

The End Of Radio Christmas show was ace. Although leaving Elizabeth (my Bass) behind was a silly thing to do. She is safe and being looked after by Matt of Astrohenge and to be honest, we could do with the time apart. It'll do us both good. Nic Crawshaw played her first show with Solomon Grundy and they were brilliant. I'm looking forward to going on tour in February with them even more now! It was also nice to again play with Caretaker whom we have known for many years but rarely share a stage with. Hopefully they will one day release the album too.

Next Friday is The Spatchcock Christmas Party! Us, Eyes and the 'Kowsers are playing a Jools Holland style show which means that we will all be set up at the same time and taking it in turns to play a song.
Sly and the Family Drone will be playing during the interlude! Then on the Saturday we are playing with Dogs and Cats Living Together in Angel at The Zenith Bar. I'm yet to see Dogs and Cats Living Together but I am a big fan of the stuff on their My____ page.

To take my mind off Liz I think I'll go and put on a guitar, make a fake mic stand, turn up the stereo and pretend I'm J Mascis.

Bic Fucinkin' Tits

This Friday coming is the End Of Radio Christmas bash at the Unicorn
. we are playing it with Caretaker, Solomon Grundy, Battle For Paris and as usual it is free entry!

A licky boom-boom down

We got a rather nice review in this month's Rock Sound Magazine "D.I.Y. in its sound and approach, uncompromising and awkward, 'Dead Lake' is all you could want from a real punk record" 8/10. Which was nice. It makes up for this, shall we say, less than impressive review. To be fair though the guy does seem like a total prick.

Also I'd like to point you in the direction of some ace records;

No Plato - Free + Proud (I'm not sure if that is what it is called or they are just proud that they are giving it away for free?!).

Aeroplane Flies High - MKI These lads and lass played with us in Liverpool back in February and at the time were 15, 16 and 17 year olds. The record only costs £2.00! You can have a listen first.

Music Spoken Here

I know it means nothing and is just a bit of fun, but our album Dead Lake made it into RecordStore.co.uk's top 30 albums of the year! We came in at 21 with Deftones only just beating us but we managed a victory over The Melvins and Rolo Tomassi.

You should probably take a look at RecordStore.co.uk and I'm not just saying that because they were nice to us.

You're My Mate (and I like you)

These are the ace labels that put out Dead Lake for us. They're a good bunch of Lasses and Lads and are truly worth a browse as they put out some tremendous bands. Go spend your money!

WeHeartRecords - This lot have put out three of our records in the past and have put out loads of ace shit like Attack! Vipers! and AndTheyWillRiot!

Art For Blind - They reside in Leeds and have put out Ox Scapula, Carson Wells and Twisted. They are currently doing a deal for our record and the Ox Scapula one for £16.00

Rejuvenation Records - They're from Paris and have put out over thirty records including Revok, Do You Compute, Scul Hazzards, Kimmo and Microfilm.

Bigoût Records - Lyon's Bigoût have put out Scul Hazzards, Sofy Major and Kiruna. The new Kiruna album is coming and will be well worth your money.

Awoken To White Walls And Sterile Routines

Tour was good fun, even though it took a while to really get going. The first three gigs weren't very good but after that it went to plan! I apologise for not doing the tour diary. We didn't really get much time near a computer to do it. I am going to write up what I didn't post and put up a link on here for people to read.

We played with these ace bands - Machete - Consolation Prizefighter - Dog Canute - Specific Ocean - Chrik - Annapurna - Slugbait - Elk - Children Under Hoof - click and enjoy.

Baby, why don't we?

I've finished packing - T-shirts & socks for each day but fewer pants (when you wake up in a sitting room and people are up and about and you need to rush somewhere else, dignity prevails over cleanliness), a spare pair of jeans, tooth brush, towel, phone charger, sleeping bag, baby wipes, and sixteen cans of Lidl bitter. It still amazes me, the cultural difference in Europe, you always get fed and beer'd. I'm not complaining though as I understand the cost of such things and am eternally grateful to the promoters putting on the shows which allows us to tour. I just prefer getting free beer.

I am planning on keeping a tour diary and posting it up on here [even though we are only going for a week]. And yes, it will be more of the same badly written crap seen above (and below).

Until then. x

oh, and this made me laugh - Thatcher

A Sign Post Scenery

One day of work to go...

We have added a shop to this blog, it's still a work in progress but everything works. There you can pick up your SF tote bags and stylish T-shirts. Though on a serious note, it does help towards the insurance on our van which has become stupidly expensive after some thieving little dadfucker couldn't keep his hands to himself*.

On a brighter note, this is pretty funny - don't fuck with the 'kowsers!

*Assuming it was a male.

Monday 18 October 2010

Look Mum, No Hands!

Four more days of work then we are off on tour! We are really looking forward to heading back to Ireland and playing some places in England that we don't get to see much of. And of course we look forward to meeting up with our friends in the more familiar towns! All dates are displayed on the right.

We have printed some new t-shirts that are selling for £5. Phil drew the picture. We have them in Large, Medium, Small, Ladies fit Medium and Ladies fit Small. Email us if you want one or you can pick one up at a show.

Friday 15 October 2010

Stop The World, I Want To Get Back On!

It turns out that these fellas are playing at the Fighting Cocks [Kingston] on Saturday too -
FalenizzaHorsePower. I heard them for the first time Thursday night at Shield 'em's album launch and they were incredible.

The line up is - Crowskin [Germany], Plague Mass,
FalenizzaHorsePower and us. It's a whopping £6 but there is a touring band on the bill.

We had our gig broadcast live last night on this Pirate radio station. There has been some mint stuff on there and I'd fully recommend you have a listen. If we ever get a recording of the gig we'll post it up on here.
